Dos Lunas Tequila
Dos Lunas Tequila is a brand of tequila produced in the region of Jalisco, Mexico. The brand is known for its high-quality production process and distinctive flavor profiles.
History
Dos Lunas Tequila was founded by Richard C. Poe II in 2006. The brand was created with the vision of producing a premium tequila that adheres to traditional methods while incorporating modern techniques to ensure consistency and quality.
Production Process
The production of Dos Lunas Tequila begins with the harvesting of mature blue agave plants, which are grown in the rich volcanic soil of Jalisco. The agave plants are typically harvested after 7-10 years of growth. The hearts of the agave, known as piñas, are then slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens to convert the complex carbohydrates into fermentable sugars.
After cooking, the piñas are crushed to extract the agave juice, which is then fermented using proprietary yeast strains. The fermentation process is carefully monitored to ensure the development of the desired flavor profile. The fermented liquid is then distilled twice in copper pot stills to achieve a high level of purity.
Varieties
Dos Lunas Tequila offers several varieties, each with its unique characteristics:
- Blanco: This unaged tequila is known for its crisp and clean flavor, with notes of citrus and pepper.
 - Reposado: Aged for a minimum of six months in oak barrels, this variety has a smooth and balanced flavor with hints of vanilla and caramel.
 - Añejo: Aged for at least one year, this tequila has a rich and complex flavor profile with notes of chocolate, tobacco, and oak.
 - Extra Añejo: Aged for over three years, this variety offers a deep and luxurious flavor with a long, smooth finish.

Awards and Recognition
Dos Lunas Tequila has received numerous awards and accolades for its quality and craftsmanship. It has been recognized in various international spirits competitions and has garnered a loyal following among tequila enthusiasts.
