Donald Ewen Cameron
Donald Ewen Cameron (pronounced: /ˈdɒnəld ˈjuːən ˈkæmərən/) was a Scottish-born psychiatrist who served as President of the American Psychiatric Association, Canadian Psychiatric Association, American Psychopathological Association, Society of Biological Psychiatry and World Psychiatric Association.
Etymology
The name "Donald" is of Scottish origin and means "ruler of the world". "Ewen" is a variant of the Gaelic name "Eoghan", meaning "born of the yew tree". "Cameron" is a Scottish surname meaning "crooked nose".
Career
Cameron was involved in the MKUltra project, a covert CIA operation that researched methods of mind control. His work, controversial and heavily criticized, involved techniques of psychic driving and depatterning that were considered unethical and inhumane.
