CytoSport

CytoSport is an American manufacturer of sports-oriented nutritional products, or supplements. It was founded in 1998 by father-son duo Greg and Mike Pickett. The company is well-known for its Muscle Milk line of protein supplements, bars and powders.

History

Greg Pickett had a long history in the nutritional products industry before founding CytoSport. His son, Mike Pickett, was a collegiate athlete who recognized a need for convenient, ready-to-drink protein beverages that could aid in recovery and muscle building. Together, they launched CytoSport with the aim of providing high-quality, science-backed nutritional products for athletes and fitness enthusiasts.

Products

CytoSport's most popular product is Muscle Milk, a line of protein supplements that includes ready-to-drink shakes, powders, and bars. Muscle Milk products are designed to aid in recovery and muscle growth after workouts. They contain a blend of high-quality proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, as well as vitamins and minerals.

In addition to Muscle Milk, CytoSport also produces a range of other nutritional supplements. These include Cytomax, a sports performance drink designed to provide energy and hydration during workouts, and Monster Milk, a high-protein supplement for serious athletes and bodybuilders.

Acquisition by Hormel

In 2014, CytoSport was acquired by Hormel Foods, a multinational manufacturer and marketer of high-quality food and meat products. The acquisition allowed Hormel to expand its portfolio into the growing sports nutrition sector.
