Cumilla (pronounced: /kʊˈmɪlə/) is a city in the Chittagong Division of Bangladesh. It is the administrative center of the Cumilla District and one of the oldest cities in Bangladesh with a rich historical and cultural background.

Etymology

The name "Cumilla" is derived from the Bengali words "Cum" and "Allah", meaning "the city of Allah". This name was given to the city by the Muslim rulers of the Bengal Sultanate.
