Cumilla Medical College
Cumilla Medical College (pronunciation: /kʊˈmɪlə ˈmɛdɪkəl kəˈlɛdʒ/) is a prominent institution for medical education and research located in Cumilla, Bangladesh.
Etymology
The name "Cumilla" is derived from the Bengali words "Kumilla", which means "accumulated soil". The "Medical College" part of the name refers to the institution's primary function as a place of higher learning in the field of medicine.
History
Cumilla Medical College was established in 1992 with the aim of providing quality medical education and research facilities in the region. The college is affiliated with the University of Chittagong and is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC).
Courses
The college offers a five-year course of study, leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. A one-year internship after graduation is compulsory for all graduates. The degree is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.
