Croatian (kroh-ay-shuhn)
Croatian (Hrvatski) is a South Slavic language spoken primarily in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Serbian province of Vojvodina and other neighbouring countries. It is the official language of the Republic of Croatia.
Etymology
The term "Croatian" comes from the Medieval Latin Croata, itself a derivation of the native ethnonym of Hrvat. The root of the word is believed to have Old Iranian origins.
Pronunciation
In English, Croatian is pronounced as /kroʊˈeɪʃən/. In Croatian language, it is pronounced as /xř̩ʋaːtskiː/.
