Cover (medical term)
Cover (pronounced: /ˈkʌvər/) is a medical term used to describe the act of providing protection or shielding, often in the context of a dressing or bandage over a wound or surgical site.
Etymology
The term "cover" originates from the Old French covrir which means "to protect, defend, or guard". In the medical context, it has been used since the late 14th century.
