Covalent (pronunciation: /koʊˈveɪlənt/) is a term used in Chemistry to describe a type of Chemical bond where pairs of electrons are shared between atoms.
Etymology
The term "covalent" is derived from the Latin words "com-" meaning "together" and "valere" meaning "to be strong". It was first used in the early 20th century to describe the strong bonds formed when atoms share electrons.
