Contrex
Contrex is a brand of mineral water owned by Nestlé Waters, a division of the multinational company Nestlé. The water is sourced from Contrexéville, a commune in the Vosges department in northeastern France. Contrex is known for its high mineral content, particularly in calcium and magnesium, and is marketed as a product beneficial for health and well-being.
History
Contrex was first discovered in the 18th century in Contrexéville. The water was initially used for medicinal purposes due to its high mineral content. In 1908, the water was officially branded as Contrex and began being sold commercially. In 1992, Contrex was acquired by Nestlé Waters, becoming part of their portfolio of bottled water brands.
Composition
Contrex water is rich in minerals, particularly calcium and magnesium. A liter of Contrex contains approximately 468 milligrams of calcium, which is about half of the recommended daily intake for an adult. It also contains 74.5 milligrams of magnesium per liter. Other minerals present in the water include potassium, sodium, and bicarbonates.
Health Benefits
Due to its high mineral content, Contrex is often recommended for individuals who require additional calcium and magnesium in their diet. It is also marketed as a product that can aid in weight loss and promote overall health and well-being.
Environmental Impact
Nestlé Waters has implemented several initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of Contrex production. These include reducing water usage in the bottling process, increasing the use of recycled materials in packaging, and implementing more efficient transportation methods.
