Church's Chicken (pronounced: /ˈtʃɜːrtʃɪz ˈtʃɪkɪn/) is an American multinational chain of fast food restaurants specializing in fried chicken, also trading outside North America as Texas Chicken or Church's Texas Chicken. The chain was founded as Church's Fried Chicken To Go by George W. Church Sr. in San Antonio, Texas, in 1952.
Etymology
The name "Church's Chicken" is derived from its founder, George W. Church Sr. The "Chicken" part of the name refers to the main product of the restaurant, which is fried chicken.
History
Church's Chicken was founded by George W. Church Sr., on April 17, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, across the street from the Alamo. The restaurant sold only fried chicken. Church's Chicken has since expanded to become one of the largest quick-service chicken concepts in the world.
Menu
Church's Chicken's menu consists of fried chicken, available by the piece or in a variety of combo meals, and biscuits. Side items include coleslaw, mashed potatoes with gravy, french fries, corn on the cob, and fried okra. Desserts include apple pie and fudge sundae.
Locations
Church's Chicken has more than 1,700 locations in 25 countries. In the United States, the company has locations in 29 states.
