Etymology
The term "Care Not Killing" is a compound phrase. "Care" is derived from the Old English carian, meaning "to feel concern or interest". "Not" is a Middle English term, from Old English nāwiht, meaning "nothing". "Killing" comes from the Old English cyllan, meaning "to strike, hit, knock, beat". The phrase as a whole emphasizes the importance of providing care and support, rather than ending life.
