Burger King fish sandwiches

From WikiMD's Medical Encyclopedia

Burger King Fish Sandwiches are a type of fast food sandwich offered by the international fast food restaurant chain Burger King. The sandwiches have been part of the Burger King menu in various forms since the company's inception in 1954.

History[edit]

The first fish sandwich offered by Burger King was the Whaler, introduced in the 1970s. The Whaler was a simple sandwich, consisting of a breaded fish fillet, tartar sauce, and a portion of lettuce on a sesame seed bun. The Whaler was discontinued in the early 1980s, but was reintroduced in 1986 due to popular demand.

In 1990, Burger King introduced the Ocean Catch, a more upscale fish sandwich that featured a larger, higher-quality fish fillet and a special bun. The Ocean Catch was discontinued in the mid-1990s.

The current fish sandwich offered by Burger King is the Big Fish. Introduced in 2002, the Big Fish features a larger, crispier fish fillet, tartar sauce, lettuce, and pickles on a corn-dusted bun.

Ingredients and Preparation[edit]

The primary ingredient in Burger King fish sandwiches is a breaded fish fillet. The fillet is deep-fried until it is golden brown and crispy. The fillet is then placed on a bun, and tartar sauce, lettuce, and pickles are added.

The fish used in Burger King fish sandwiches has varied over the years. The Whaler used a fillet of cod, while the Ocean Catch used a fillet of haddock. The Big Fish uses a fillet of Alaskan Pollock.

Reception[edit]

Burger King fish sandwiches have received mixed reviews over the years. Some critics have praised the sandwiches for their taste and quality, while others have criticized them for being too greasy or lacking in flavor.
