Bubba Gump Shrimp Company
Bubba Gump Shrimp Company is an American seafood restaurant chain inspired by the 1994 film Forrest Gump. As of 2019, the company operates 44 restaurants worldwide.
History[edit]
The Bubba Gump Shrimp Company Restaurant and Market is a seafood restaurant chain that first opened in Monterey, California in 1996. The company is named after the film's characters Benjamin Buford "Bubba" Blue and Forrest Gump, who had a dream of running a shrimp business.
The idea for the restaurant chain was born out of a 1995 agreement between Paramount Pictures (which distributed Forrest Gump) and Rusty Pelican Restaurants Inc., which wanted to create a casual seafood restaurant chain in the U.S. themed on the hit movie.
Menu[edit]
The menu at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company is, unsurprisingly, heavily focused on shrimp and seafood, although it also offers a range of other dishes including ribs, steaks, and burgers. The restaurant is known for its Shrimp Bucket, which is a bucket filled with steamed shrimp and potatoes.
Locations[edit]
As of 2019, there are 44 Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurants around the world. The company's locations include cities in the United States, such as New York City, San Francisco, and Chicago, as well as international locations in Tokyo, London, and Hong Kong.
In popular culture[edit]
The Bubba Gump Shrimp Company has been featured in various media outlets. It was prominently featured in the film Forrest Gump, and has since been referenced in numerous television shows and films.
