Breyers

Breyers is a brand of ice cream and frozen dessert sold in the United States and Canada. It was founded in 1866 by William A. Breyer who sold his ice cream from his horse and wagon in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The brand is currently owned by Unilever.

History

Breyers was founded in 1866 by William A. Breyer. He started by selling his ice cream from a horse and wagon in Philadelphia. The ice cream was made with a few simple ingredients: cream, sugar, pure vanilla extract, and nuts, fruits, and berries.

In 1896, Breyers Ice Cream was officially incorporated and a wholesale manufacturing plant was opened in New Jersey. By 1918, Breyers had expanded to New York City and Newark, New Jersey.

In 1926, Breyers was bought by National Dairy Products Corporation, which later became part of Kraft Foods. In 1993, Unilever bought the ice cream division from Kraft and has owned Breyers ever since.

Products

Breyers offers a variety of ice cream flavors, including vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and more. They also offer a line of light ice cream, non-dairy ice cream, and lactose-free ice cream.

In addition to ice cream, Breyers also sells a range of frozen desserts, including frozen yogurt, sorbet, and gelato.
