Big Boy Restaurants

Big Boy Restaurants is a chain of family dining restaurants founded in 1936 by Bob Wian in Glendale, California. The chain is best known for its iconic Big Boy mascot and its signature double-decker hamburger, the Big Boy burger.
History[edit]
The first Big Boy restaurant was opened by Bob Wian in 1936. The restaurant was originally named Bob's Pantry. The name "Big Boy" was inspired by a chubby young boy who walked into the restaurant and was affectionately called "Big Boy" by Wian. The mascot was created by Benny Washam, a Warner Bros. animator.
Menu[edit]
Big Boy Restaurants are known for their classic American diner-style menu. The signature item is the Big Boy burger, which consists of two beef patties, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and a special sauce, served on a sesame seed bun. Other popular menu items include breakfast dishes, sandwiches, salads, and desserts.
Locations[edit]
Big Boy Restaurants have locations primarily in the Midwestern United States, with a significant presence in Michigan, Ohio, and California. The chain has also expanded internationally, with locations in Japan and other countries.
Big Boy Mascot[edit]
The Big Boy mascot is a chubby boy in red-and-white checkered overalls holding a Big Boy burger. The mascot has become an iconic symbol of the restaurant chain and is featured prominently in its branding and advertising.
