Balochistan
Balochistan
Balochistan (pronunciation: /bəˈloʊtʃɪstæn/) is a region located in South Asia, primarily in Pakistan, but also extending into Iran and Afghanistan.
Etymology
The name "Balochistan" is generally believed to derive from the name of the Baloch people. The Baloch people are believed to be descendants of Hazrat Ameer Hamza, an uncle of the Prophet Muhammad, who settled in Halab (present-day Aleppo). Over time, the people migrated to the Makran region and were called 'Baloch', a term in the local language meaning "nomad".
