Arrested

Arrested (/əˈrɛstɪd/), from the Latin arrestare meaning 'to stop or restrain', is a medical term used to describe the cessation or halt of a process or activity in the body. It is often used in the context of cardiac or respiratory function, but can also refer to the halt of growth or development.

Cardiac Arrest

Cardiac arrest is a sudden loss of blood flow resulting from the failure of the heart to effectively pump. Symptoms include loss of consciousness and abnormal or absent breathing. Some individuals may experience chest pain, shortness of breath, or nausea before cardiac arrest.

Respiratory Arrest

Respiratory arrest is the cessation of the normal breathing process. It can occur as a result of a blockage in the airway, a problem with the lungs, or a problem with the signals sent from the brain to the muscles that control breathing.

Arrested Development

Arrested development refers to a stop in physical or psychological growth or development. In a medical context, it can refer to a condition where an organ or body part has not developed fully.
