Anna Medical College

Anna Medical College (pronunciation: /ˈænə/ /ˈmɛdɪkəl/ /kəˈlɛdʒ/) is a renowned institution for medical education and research. The college is named after the late Dr. C.N. Annadurai, a prominent Indian politician and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Etymology

The name "Anna" is derived from the Tamil word "Anna" which means "elder brother". It is a term of respect used in Tamil Nadu, the state where the college is located. The term "Medical College" is derived from the Latin words "medicus" which means "doctor" and "collegium" which means "community" or "society".

History

Anna Medical College was established in the year 1982 with the aim of providing quality medical education and research opportunities to students from all over the world. The college is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and is recognized by the Medical Council of India.
