Androstanolone Enanthate

Androstanolone Enanthate (pronunciation: an-dro-sta-no-lone e-nan-thate) is a synthetic androgen and anabolic steroid medication which is used in the treatment of low testosterone levels in men. It is also used in hormone therapy for transgender men.

Etymology

The term "Androstanolone Enanthate" is derived from two words. "Androstanolone" is a combination of "andro", a prefix denoting male characteristics, and "stanolone", a steroid hormone. "Enanthate" is derived from the Greek word "enan", meaning "in", and "thate", a suffix used in organic chemistry to denote esters.

Pharmacology

Androstanolone is a biologically active metabolite of the hormone testosterone, which is formed in the liver. It is responsible for the development and maintenance of male secondary sexual characteristics. When combined with Enanthate, a carboxylic acid ester, it forms Androstanolone Enanthate, which has a longer half-life and a slower release rate than testosterone.

Medical Uses

Androstanolone Enanthate is used in androgen replacement therapy primarily for the treatment of male hypogonadism, a condition in which the body does not produce enough testosterone. It is also used in hormone therapy for transgender men, helping them to develop male secondary sexual characteristics.

Side Effects

Like all medications, Androstanolone Enanthate can cause side effects. These may include acne, hair loss, increased body hair growth, and an increased risk of prostate cancer. It can also cause changes in mood and behavior, such as aggression and irritability.
