The term "Analysis of Variance" was coined by the English statistician Ronald Fisher in the 1920s.
Definition
ANOVA is a statistical inference test that allows you to compare multiple groups at the same time. It tests the hypothesis that the means among the groups are equal and that the variances inside each of the groups are the same.
Types of ANOVA
There are two types of ANOVA:
- One-way ANOVA: It is used to test for differences among at least three groups, as they relate to one independent variable.
- Two-way ANOVA: It tests for differences among groups that are split on two independent variables.
