Amy Hood

Amy Hood (born August 9, 1971) is an American business executive currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Microsoft Corporation. She is the first woman to hold this position at Microsoft, having been appointed in 2013.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Amy Hood was born in Seattle, Washington. She attended Harvard University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in economics. Following her undergraduate studies, Hood pursued an MBA at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Before joining Microsoft, Amy Hood worked at Goldman Sachs in various roles, gaining significant experience in the financial sector.

Microsoft[edit]

Amy Hood joined Microsoft in 2002. She initially worked in the investor relations group, where she was involved in strategic projects and financial planning. Her work in this area helped her gain a deep understanding of Microsoft's business operations and financial strategies.

In 2013, Hood was appointed as the CFO of Microsoft, succeeding Peter Klein. As CFO, she is responsible for leading Microsoft's worldwide finance organization, including acquisitions, treasury activities, tax planning, and accounting.

Under her leadership, Microsoft has seen significant financial growth and strategic acquisitions, including the purchase of LinkedIn in 2016 and GitHub in 2018.
