The American Music Awards (AMAs) is an annual music awards show, created by Dick Clark in 1973 for ABC when the network's contract to air the Grammy Awards expired. The AMAs are determined by a poll of the public and fans, who can vote through the AMAs website.
History
The American Music Awards were created by Dick Clark in 1973 as a response to the Grammy Awards moving to CBS. The first show was held in 1974, and it has since become one of the most prestigious music award shows in the United States.
