Alexandrine Le Normant d'Étiolles (1744–1754) was the daughter of Madame de Pompadour, the famous mistress of King Louis XV of France. Alexandrine, often referred to as "Fanfan," was born to Charles Guillaume Le Normant d'Étiolles and Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, who later became known as Madame de Pompadour.

Early Life

Alexandrine was born in Paris, France, in 1744. Her mother, Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, was a member of the French bourgeoisie and later became the influential mistress of King Louis XV. Alexandrine's father, Charles Guillaume Le Normant d'Étiolles, was a wealthy financier.

Education

Madame de Pompadour was deeply invested in Alexandrine's education. She ensured that her daughter received a comprehensive education, which was uncommon for girls at the time. Alexandrine was taught by the best tutors and was well-versed in subjects such as literature, music, and art.

Death

Tragically, Alexandrine's life was cut short when she died of peritonitis in 1754 at the age of ten. Her death was a significant blow to Madame de Pompadour, who was deeply affected by the loss of her only child.
