Harvester (restaurant)
Harvester is a UK-based restaurant chain, owned and operated by Mitchells & Butlers plc. The chain is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and its focus on grilled food, particularly its flame-grilled steaks and rotisserie chicken.
History[edit]
The first Harvester restaurant opened in Morden, London in 1983. The concept was created by Bass, a brewing company, as a new type of eating establishment that combined a traditional pub with a family restaurant. The chain quickly expanded throughout the UK, and by the end of the 1980s, there were over 100 Harvester restaurants.
In 2003, Bass sold its brewing operations and changed its name to Six Continents. The following year, Six Continents split into two companies, InterContinental Hotels Group and Mitchells & Butlers plc, with the latter taking over the Harvester chain.
Menu[edit]
Harvester's menu focuses on grilled food, with a particular emphasis on steaks and rotisserie chicken. The chain is also known for its unlimited salad bar, which allows customers to help themselves to as much fresh salad as they like with their meal. Other menu items include burgers, ribs, fish and chips, and a range of vegetarian and vegan options.
Locations[edit]
As of 2021, there are over 200 Harvester restaurants in the UK. The chain has also expanded internationally, with locations in Germany, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates.
