The University of the Punjab (Urdu: _____ _____ ), also referred to as Punjab University, is a public research university located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Established in 1882, it is the oldest public university in Pakistan.

History[edit]

The University of the Punjab was formally established by the British colonial authorities in 1882. It was the fourth university to be established by the British in the Indian subcontinent, following the universities of Calcutta, Bombay, and Madras. The university was initially set up to provide higher education and conduct examinations in the region.

Campus[edit]

The university's main campus is located in the city of Lahore, with additional campuses in Gujranwala, Jhelum, and Khanspur. The Lahore campus is divided into several sections, including the Quaid-e-Azam Campus (New Campus) and the Allama Iqbal Campus (Old Campus).
