Cooper Green Mercy Hospital was established in 1972. It was named after Dr. Cooper Green, a prominent local physician who was dedicated to providing medical care to the underserved population of Jefferson County.

The hospital offers a wide range of medical services including emergency medicine, internal medicine, surgery, radiology, pathology, and pharmacy services. It also provides specialized services such as cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology, pulmonology, and rheumatology.
