Bright-Landry Hockey Center

Bright-Landry Hockey Center is an indoor ice hockey arena located on the campus of Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It serves as the home rink for the Harvard Crimson men's and women's ice hockey teams. The facility is named in honor of C. Kevin Landry and his wife, Barrie Landry, who made a significant donation to the university.
History[edit]
The arena was originally opened in 1956 as the Donald C. Watson Rink. In 1979, it was renamed the Bright Hockey Center in honor of former Harvard hockey player and benefactor, Gordon McKay Bright. In 2014, following a substantial donation from the Landry family, the facility was renamed the Bright-Landry Hockey Center.
Facilities[edit]
The Bright-Landry Hockey Center features a standard-sized ice rink, seating for approximately 3,095 spectators, and modern amenities for both players and fans. The arena underwent significant renovations in 2014, which included updated locker rooms, improved seating, and enhanced training facilities.
Harvard Crimson Ice Hockey[edit]
The Harvard Crimson men's ice hockey team is one of the oldest and most storied programs in college hockey, with a history dating back to 1898. The women's team, established in 1978, has also achieved significant success, including multiple NCAA tournament appearances and a national championship in 1999.
Events[edit]
In addition to hosting Harvard's home games, the Bright-Landry Hockey Center is used for various other events, including youth hockey tournaments, figure skating competitions, and community events.
Location and Access[edit]
The arena is located on the Harvard University campus, near the Harvard Stadium and the Harvard Business School. It is accessible via public transportation, with the nearest MBTA station being Harvard Square on the Red Line.
