The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional American football team based in Tampa, Florida. They are members of the National Football League (NFL) and compete in the league's National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The team was established in 1976 as an expansion team, along with the Seattle Seahawks.
History
The Buccaneers joined the NFL in 1976 as members of the AFC West division. After one season, they moved to the NFC Central division. The team struggled in its early years, losing its first 26 games. However, they found success in the late 1970s and early 1980s, making the playoffs three times and winning the division title in 1979.
The team experienced a resurgence in the late 1990s and early 2000s under head coach Tony Dungy and later Jon Gruden. The Buccaneers won their first Super Bowl title in the 2002 season, defeating the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII. They won their second Super Bowl in the 2020 season, led by quarterback Tom Brady, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.
Stadium
The Buccaneers play their home games at Raymond James Stadium, which has been their home since 1998. The stadium is known for its pirate ship feature in the north end zone, which fires cannons when the Buccaneers score.
Team Colors and Mascot
The team's colors are red, pewter, orange, and black. The team's mascot is Captain Fear, a pirate character who entertains fans at home games and community events.
Rivalries
The Buccaneers have rivalries with several teams, most notably with the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and Carolina Panthers, all of whom are members of the NFC South division.
