The University of New Mexico (UNM) is a public research university located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was founded on February 28, 1889, and is the state's flagship university. The university offers bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and professional degree programs in a wide variety of fields.
History
The University of New Mexico was established by the New Mexico Territorial Legislature on February 28, 1889, with the goal of providing higher education to the residents of the territory. The university's first building, Hodgin Hall, was completed in 1892 and still stands today as a symbol of the university's long history.
Campus
The main campus of the University of New Mexico is located in Albuquerque, and spans over 800 acres.
