Dhaka Division

It is the most populous division of Bangladesh and has been considered the economic, political, and cultural center of the country since its establishment. The division is named after its capital and largest city, Dhaka, which is also the national capital of Bangladesh. Dhaka Division is surrounded by the Mymensingh Division to the north, the Barisal Division to the south, the Sylhet Division and Chittagong Division to the east, and the Rajshahi Division and Khulna Division to the west.
Geography[edit]
Dhaka Division is located in the central part of Bangladesh. It covers an area of approximately 20,593.74 square kilometers. The division is characterized by its flat and fertile land, which is part of the larger Ganges Delta. The main rivers flowing through the division include the Padma River, Meghna River, and Jamuna River, which are crucial for the division's agriculture, transportation, and economy.
Administrative Subdivisions[edit]
Dhaka Division is divided into several districts, which are further subdivided into Upazilas (sub-districts) and Union Parishads. As of the latest administrative reorganization, Dhaka Division comprises 13 districts, including notable ones such as Dhaka District, Gazipur District, Faridpur District, and Tangail District. Each district is administered by a District Commissioner and is responsible for local governance and administration.
Demographics[edit]
Dhaka Division has a diverse population with a rich cultural heritage. As of the latest census, it has a population of over 36 million people, making it the most populous division in Bangladesh.
