Lipotoxicity is a pathological condition characterized by the toxic effects of lipids on non-adipose tissues in the body. This condition arises when the storage capacity of adipose tissue is exceeded or dysfunctional, leading to an excessive accumulation of lipids in organs not suited for fat storage, such as the liver, heart, and skeletal muscle.
