Sex differences in psychology are differences in the mental functions and behaviors of the sexes, and are due to a complex interplay of biological, developmental, and cultural factors. For example, societal expectations can influence the development of gender roles, which in turn can affect behavior and cognition.

Mental Health

Sex differences in mental health are well-documented. For example, women are more likely to be diagnosed with depression and anxiety, while men are more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD and substance use disorders.
