Stefan Catsicas
Stefan Catsicas is a renowned neuroscientist and biotechnologist, known for his significant contributions to the field of neurobiology. He has held various prestigious positions in academia and industry, including serving as the Chief Technology Officer of Nestlé.
Early Life and Education
Stefan Catsicas was born in Greece and later moved to Switzerland for his higher education. He completed his undergraduate studies in Physics and Mathematics at the University of Geneva. He then pursued his doctoral studies in Neurobiology at the University of Lausanne, where he focused on the molecular mechanisms of neuronal plasticity.
Career
After completing his doctorate, Catsicas joined the faculty of the University of Lausanne as a professor of Neurobiology. His research during this period was instrumental in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying synaptic plasticity and neuronal development.
In 1996, Catsicas co-founded the biotechnology company Arcturus Therapeutics, where he served as the Chief Scientific Officer. The company focuses on the development of RNA therapeutics for the treatment of various diseases.
In 2013, Catsicas was appointed as the Chief Technology Officer of Nestlé, where he led the company's research and development efforts in food science and nutrition.

Catsicas' research has significantly advanced our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal plasticity and neuronal development. His work has provided valuable insights into the role of these processes in various neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
