Twizzlers is a brand of candy in the United States and Canada. It is a product of The Hershey Company, and is one of the most popular brands of licorice candy in North America. Twizzlers come in a variety of shapes and flavors, with the most common being the strawberry-flavored "Twists".

History

Twizzlers were first produced in 1845 by Young & Smylie, and the Twizzlers brand was established in 1929. In 1977, The Hershey Company acquired the Twizzlers brand from Y&S Candies, Inc., and has continued to manufacture them to this day.

Production

Twizzlers are made primarily from corn syrup, wheat flour, sugar, and flavorings. The process of making Twizzlers is a closely guarded secret, but it involves extruding the candy mixture through a die to give it its distinctive twist shape.

Varieties

There are several varieties of Twizzlers, including the original Twists, Pull 'n' Peel, Nibs, and Filled Twists. Each variety comes in several flavors, including strawberry, cherry, and black licorice.

Popularity

Twizzlers are a popular candy in North America, particularly in the United States and Canada. They are often associated with movie theater concessions, and are a common choice for snacking during films.
