Texas Pete

Texas Pete is a popular brand of hot sauce in the United States. It is produced by TW Garner Food Company in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The sauce was first introduced in 1929 and has since become a staple in many American households and restaurants.

History

Texas Pete was created by Sam Garner, who owned the Dixie Pig barbecue stand in Winston-Salem. The name "Texas Pete" was chosen to evoke the spicy and bold flavors associated with the southwestern United States, despite the fact that the product is not from Texas, nor was Garner named Pete.

Product Line

The TW Garner Food Company produces a variety of products under the Texas Pete brand. These include the original Texas Pete Hot Sauce, as well as a hotter version called Hotter Hot Sauce, a milder version called Mild Sauce, and a variety of other sauces and seasonings.

Ingredients

The main ingredients in Texas Pete Hot Sauce are peppers, vinegar, and salt. The exact recipe is a closely guarded secret, but the company has stated that it does not use any artificial preservatives or colors in its products.

Usage

Texas Pete is often used as a condiment on foods such as chicken wings, pizza, and tacos. It can also be used as an ingredient in recipes to add a spicy kick.

Popularity

Texas Pete is the third best-selling hot sauce in the United States. It is particularly popular in the South, where it is a common sight on restaurant tables and in grocery stores.
