Nicholas Patrick

Nicholas Patrick (born 19 March 1964) is a British-American astronaut and engineer, notable for his work with NASA on two Space Shuttle missions.

Early life and education

Patrick was born in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, North Yorkshire, England. He attended Harrow School, before going on to study engineering at the University of Cambridge. He later moved to the United States to pursue a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Career

Patrick joined NASA in 1998 as part of the 17th group of NASA astronauts. His first spaceflight was the STS-116 mission in December 2006, where he served as a mission specialist. His second and final spaceflight was the STS-130 mission in February 2010, where he again served as a mission specialist and was involved in three spacewalks.

Post-NASA career

After retiring from NASA in 2012, Patrick joined Blue Origin, a private aerospace manufacturer and spaceflight services company founded by Jeff Bezos. He currently serves as the Human Integration Architect, working on the design and testing of crewed spacecraft.

Personal life

Patrick holds dual British and American citizenship. He is married and has three children.
