Imo's Pizza is a popular chain of pizza restaurants based in St. Louis, Missouri. Known for its distinctive St. Louis-style pizza, the chain has over 100 locations, primarily in and around the St. Louis area.

History

Ed and Margie Imo, the founders of Imo's Pizza, started their pizza business in 1964 in the Hill, an Italian-American neighborhood in St. Louis. The couple was inspired by the thin-crust pizzas popular in St. Louis, which contrasted with the thick, doughy pizzas common in other parts of the country. The first Imo's Pizza location was a small, carryout-only shop, but the business quickly expanded due to its popularity.

St. Louis-Style Pizza

Imo's Pizza is best known for its St. Louis-style pizza, which is characterized by a thin, cracker-like crust, a sweet and tangy sauce, and the use of Provel cheese, a processed cheese product that is a combination of cheddar, Swiss, and provolone cheeses. This style of pizza is cut into squares or rectangles, rather than the traditional wedges.

Menu

In addition to its signature pizza, Imo's Pizza also offers a variety of other menu items, including pasta, sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. Some of the most popular items include toasted ravioli, a St. Louis specialty, and Provel cheese bites.

Community Involvement

Imo's Pizza is deeply involved in the St. Louis community. The company established the Imo's Pizza Charitable Foundation in 1985, which supports a variety of local charities and community organizations.
