Green Lantern
Green Lantern is the name of several superhero characters appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. They are characterized by their use of power rings that grant them a variety of extraordinary abilities.
History
The first Green Lantern character, Alan Scott, was created in 1940 during the Golden Age of Comic Books. He was a railroad engineer who came into possession of a magic lantern that granted him power. The character was later reimagined in the Silver Age of Comic Books as Hal Jordan, a test pilot who was chosen by the Guardians of the Universe to become a member of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic police force.
Green Lantern Corps
The Green Lantern Corps is an intergalactic law enforcement agency that patrols the universe. Each member of the Corps is equipped with a power ring that grants them the ability to create constructs of solid light, fly, and perform other feats limited only by their willpower and imagination.
