Night is the period of time when the Sun is below the horizon. This occurs after dusk. The opposite of night is day (when the Sun is above the horizon).

Overview[edit]

Night or nighttime is the period of time between the end of the twilight and sunrise. It is characterized by the absence of natural light produced by the Sun. Instead, the sky is illuminated by the Moon, stars, and other celestial bodies. The start and end times of night vary based on factors such as season, latitude, longitude, and local weather conditions.

Phenomena[edit]

During the night, several phenomena can be observed. These include nocturnal animals becoming active, the visibility of astronomical objects, and the occurrence of certain weather phenomena.

Nocturnal Animals[edit]

Many animals, such as bats and owls, are nocturnal, meaning they are most active during the night. These animals have adapted to life in the dark and often have heightened senses such as improved hearing or night vision.

Astronomical Observations[edit]

Nighttime is the best time for astronomy as the absence of sunlight allows for a clear view of the stars and other celestial bodies. This is also the time when phenomena such as meteor showers are most visible.

Weather Phenomena[edit]

Certain weather phenomena, such as the formation of dew and frost, occur predominantly at night. This is due to the drop in temperature that typically occurs after sunset.

Cultural Aspects[edit]

Nighttime has a significant impact on culture and society. It is often associated with rest and relaxation as most people sleep during this time. However, it can also be a time of activity, particularly in urban areas where nightlife is a major part of the local culture.
