Khulna Division

Khulna Division is one of the eight administrative divisions of Bangladesh. It is located in the southwestern part of the country and named after its main city, Khulna. The division is known for its unique culture, history, and economic contributions to Bangladesh.

Geography

Khulna Division is bordered by the Indian state of West Bengal to the west, and by the Bangladesh divisions of Dhaka and Barisal to the east and Rajshahi to the north. The Bay of Bengal is to the south of Khulna Division. The division covers an area of approximately 22,285 square kilometers.

Administrative Districts

Khulna Division is divided into ten districts, namely Bagerhat, Chuadanga, Jessore, Jhenaidah, Khulna, Kushtia, Magura, Meherpur, Narail, and Satkhira. Each district is further divided into several upazilas or sub-districts.

Economy

The economy of Khulna Division is diverse and includes sectors such as agriculture, fishing, and manufacturing. The division is particularly known for its jute production, and the Khulna Jute Mill is one of the largest in Bangladesh. The Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove forest, is located in this division and contributes significantly to the local economy through timber and honey production.

The culture of Khulna Division is rich and varied, with influences from both Bengali culture and the local indigenous communities. The division is known for its traditional folk music, dance, and handicrafts.
