Sweetener refers to a substance used to provide a sweet taste in food and beverages. Sweeteners can be classified into two broad categories: natural sweeteners and artificial sweeteners.

Natural Sweeteners

Sugar

Aspartame

Sucralose

Sucralose, marketed under the brand name Splenda, is a zero-calorie sweetener. It is approximately 600 times sweeter than sugar.

Health Effects

Some studies suggest that consuming large amounts of sugar can lead to health problems such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Artificial sweeteners, while they do not contribute calories, have also been linked to health problems in some studies, though the evidence is less clear.
