Frederick County is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 91,419. Its county seat is Winchester. The county was formed in 1743 from parts of Orange County and named after Frederick, Prince of Wales, the eldest son of King George II of Great Britain.

Frederick County was established in 1743. It was named after Frederick, Prince of Wales, the son of King George II. The county played a significant role during the American Civil War, with several battles occurring within its borders, including the Battle of Kernstown and the Battle of Cedar Creek.
