Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari (born 28 February 1991) is a Saudi Arabian man who is one of the heaviest people in the world and the second heaviest living person, after Juan Pedro Franco. He was also the heaviest teenager.

Early life

Shaari was born in Saudi Arabia on 28 February 1991. He was unable to leave his bed since he was a child. His weight continued to increase steadily, eventually reaching a peak weight of 610 kg (1,340 lb) in August 2013.

Medical condition

Shaari suffers from severe obesity, a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have a negative effect on health. His condition has been attributed to a combination of overeating and genetic factors. He has been bedridden for several years due to his weight.

Treatment

In August 2013, Shaari was airlifted from his home to Riyadh on the orders of then-King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who directed that Shaari be given medical treatment. He underwent a series of dietary and physical programs to reduce his weight. As of 2017, he had lost 542 kg (1,195 lb) and weighed 68 kg (150 lb).
