Ohio

Ohio is a U.S. state located in the Midwestern region of the country. It is the 34th largest by area, the 7th most populous, and the 10th most densely populated of the 50 United States. The state's capital and largest city is Columbus.

History

The area of Ohio has been inhabited by indigenous peoples for thousands of years. European exploration of the region began in the 17th century with French and British expeditions. Ohio became a U.S. territory in 1787 and achieved statehood in 1803 as the 17th state to join the Union.

Geography
