West Hempstead is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in the U.S. state of New York.
Geography[edit]
West Hempstead is situated at coordinates of 40.704, -73.650. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.3 km²), all of which is land.
Demographics[edit]
As of the 2020 census, the population of West Hempstead was 19,835. The area is known for its diverse community and suburban character.

West Hempstead is served by the West Hempstead Union Free School District, which includes several elementary schools, a middle school, and West Hempstead High School.
