Brunch is a combination of breakfast and lunch, and regularly has some form of alcoholic drink served with it. It is usually served anytime before 3 o'clock in the afternoon. The word is a portmanteau of breakfast and lunch. Brunch originated in England in the late 19th century and became popular in the United States in the 1930s. This is a list of notable brunch foods and dishes. Brunch foods are prepared by a multitude of methods, such as cooking, baking and frying.
List of brunch foods[edit]
Eggs[edit]
- Eggs Benedict: A traditional American brunch or breakfast dish that consists of two halves of an English muffin each of which is topped with Canadian bacon, a poached egg, and hollandaise sauce.
- Scrambled eggs: A dish made from eggs stirred or beaten together in a pan while being gently heated.
- Omelette: A dish made from beaten eggs fried with butter or oil in a frying pan.
