Ionithermie

Ionithermie (/aɪˌoʊnɪˈθɜːrmi/) is a type of body contouring treatment that involves the use of electrical stimulation and specialized products to help improve the appearance of cellulite and tone the body.

Etymology

The term "Ionithermie" is derived from the words "ion" and "thermie". "Ion" refers to an atom or molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons. "Thermie" is derived from the Greek word "therme", meaning heat. The name reflects the treatment's use of both electrical currents and heat.

Procedure

The Ionithermie procedure begins with the application of a specialized clay and algae mixture to the treatment area. This mixture is designed to draw out toxins and improve skin tone. Electrodes are then attached to the area, and a low-level electrical current is passed through the body. This current causes the muscles to contract, which can help to tone and firm the body.
