Zibotentan (pronounced as zee-boh-ten-tan) is a type of medication specifically designed as an endothelin receptor antagonist. It is primarily used in the treatment of prostate cancer.

Etymology

The term "Zibotentan" is a coined name, like many pharmaceutical drugs, and does not have a specific etymology.

Usage

Zibotentan is used in the treatment of hormone-resistant prostate cancer. It works by blocking the action of a natural substance called endothelin-1 which is often found in high levels in men with prostate cancer. By blocking the action of endothelin-1, Zibotentan can slow the growth of the cancer and may also prevent the growth of new blood vessels within the cancer.
