Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine
Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine is the medical faculty of the National University of Singapore (NUS), and one of the leading medical institutions in Asia. Named after philanthropist Yong Loo Lin, the school was established in 1905, making it one of the oldest medical schools in the region. It is located in Singapore and offers a comprehensive range of medical and surgical courses leading to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree.
History
The Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine was originally founded as the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States Government Medical School in 1905. In 1921, it was renamed to King Edward VII College of Medicine. In 1949, it became part of the University of Malaya. It was later integrated into the National University of Singapore in 1980, following the university's formation. The school was renamed Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2005 in honor of a significant donation from the family of the late Mr. Yong Loo Lin.
