Woman
Woman (/ˈwʊmən/), plural: women (/ˈwɪmɪn/), is an adult human female. In terms of biological sex, women typically have two X chromosomes, but variations exist and are valid, such as in the case of intersex individuals.
Etymology
The term "woman" is derived from the Old English "wīfmann", which is a combination of "wīf" (wife) and "mann" (human being). The pronunciation has evolved over time, but the meaning has remained relatively consistent.
